Seeing seasonal Starbucks cups and drinks reappear in November is just so exciting!
One of those holiday drinks that reappears is the Toasted White Chocolate Mocha.
I decided to recreate it at home to enjoy all holiday season long. So here it is!
You’ll need espresso, white chocolate sauce, caramel sauce, milk, whipped cream and Christmasy sprinkles. It’s so easy to make the results are so festive and delicious!
What is in a Toasted White Chocolate Mocha?
Starbucks lists these ingredients in their Toasted White Chocolate Mocha: Milk, Toasted White Chocolate Mocha Sauce, Brewed Espresso, Whipped Cream, Holiday Sugar Sparkles with Crispy White Pearls Topping.
They use their signature espresso and combine it with steamed milk. The toasted white chocolate mocha sauce adds a caramelized white chocolate taste and the drink is then topped with whipped cream, holiday sugar sparkles and crispy white pearls.
To recreate it, I also use espresso and milk. For the toasted white chocolate mocha sauce, I used regular white chocolate sauce and added a little caramel sauce to give it that caramelized taste.
Similarly, I added whipped cream and for the sprinkles, I used red sanding sugar sprinkles and white pearl sprinkles.
What’s the difference between a White Chocolate Mocha and a Toasted White Chocolate Mocha?
Starbucks has a few white chocolate mochas on their menu.
Both the Peppermint White Chocolate Mocha and Toasted White Chocolate Mocha are seasonal. Then, depending on where you’re based, the White Chocolate Mocha might be available year round.
So what’s the difference?
I took a look at the ingredients.
The regular white chocolate mocha has Milk, White Chocolate Mocha Sauce, Brewed Espresso, Whipped Cream.
So the difference between it and the toasted version is the mocha sauce and the toppings. The regular white chocolate mocha does not have the festive red and white sprinkles. And for the sauce, one uses a toasted white chocolate mocha sauce, the other, just a white chocolate mocha sauce.
I think the difference in taste is the slightly caramelized flavor in the toasted white chocolate mocha. This is why I added a little bit of caramel sauce to recreate it at home.
Toasted White Chocolate Mocha Ingredients

- 2 tbsp white chocolate sauce
- 1 tsp caramel sauce

- White pearl sprinkles
Tips for Making a Toasted White Chocolate Mocha
Espresso
I used a stovetop moka pot to brew espresso.
To make espresso, you need an espresso machine. This is because an espresso machine will apply the right amount of pressure.
However, if you don’t have an espresso machine, or prefer something that doesn’t take much time to learn, use a moka pot.
It yields the most espresso like coffee. Check out our guide to making espresso without an espresso machine to find the method for you.
White Chocolate Sauce
I used Torani White Chocolate Sauce.
This is the brand of sauces I typically use for my coffee drinks. It incorporates well when stirred into hot or cold coffee and can also be used for other desserts, like to drizzle on top of ice cream and other desserts.
Caramel Sauce
I used Torani Caramel Sauce.
Like mentioned above, this is the brand I use for most of my coffee drinks.
Toppings
Starbucks tops their drink with whipped cream, holiday sugar sparkles and crispy white pearls.
I recreated this by using store-bought whipped cream, red sanding sugar sprinkles and white pearl sprinkles.
If you prefer to make your own whipped cream at home, just use a mixer and mix heavy cream until stiff peaks form. Add vanilla syrup to give it a slightly sweet taste like the whipped cream you’d find at Starbucks.
