Make your very own coffee creamer at home – a pumpkin spice coffee creamer!
I had extra canned pumpkin after making pumpkin bread. So the question was, what should I do with it?
There was so much I could’ve done – pumpkin spice lattes, more pumpkin bread, pumpkin overnight oats… but this time, I chose to use it to make pumpkin spice coffee creamer.

I’m still in the mood for drinking cold brew coffee, so a tablespoon or two of this pumpkin spice coffee creamer automatically gives my summerish coffee a fallish flavor.
This homemade coffee creamer recipe fits perfectly in a 16 ounce mason jar.
And apart from the very minimal (just 4) ingredients you need and a few measuring cups, the mason jar is all you need to make it and store it securely in the refrigerator for many mornings of pumpkin spice flavored coffee.
To make this creamer, I used our homemade coffee creamer base and added pumpkin and pumpkin pie spice.
Why should you make your own coffee creamer?
Have you ever looked at the ingredients in store bought coffee creamers?
If you haven’t, here’s a list found of some of the ingredients from pumpkin spice coffee creamers from popular coffee creamer brands:
- Water
- Sugar
- Vegetable Oil
- Mono- and Diglycerides
- Dipotassium Phosphate
- Cellulose Gel
- Cellulose Gum
- Carrageenan
- Palm oil
When you make your own coffee creamer at home, you’ll know exactly what you’re putting inside.
Pumpkin Spice Coffee Creamer Ingredients
- ¾ cup heavy cream
- ¼ cup sweetened condensed milk
- 3 tbsp pumpkin puree
- 1 tsp pumpkin pie spice
- Maple syrup (optional)
Heavy cream
I use and find heavy cream works best for making homemade coffee creamer.
However, you can also use heavy whipping cream and even a milk alternative. If you choose to use other options, your coffee creamer will just be a bit thinner than if you were to use heavy cream.
Pumpkin puree
I used canned organic pumpkin from Farmer’s Market. This pumpkin puree is organically grown in the US and is non-GMO.
(Also, remember when we made pumpkin bread with coffee frosting? I mentioned that most canned pumpkin is sold in 15 ounce cans. A loaf of pumpkin bread requires just a cup (8 ounces) of canned pumpkin. So what do you do with the rest?
Well in this case, it’s the opposite. If you’re opening this canned pumpkin to make this homemade coffee creamer, you can use the extra to make pumpkin bread.)
What is pumpkin pie spice?
Pumpkin pie spice is a blend of spices commonly used to make pumpkin pie. The blend typically includes cinnamon, nutmeg, allspice and ginger.
My pumpkin pie spice from Trader Joe’s contains cinnamon, ginger, lemon peel, nutmeg, cloves and cardamom.
You can make your own pumpkin pie spice if you don’t have it at home but have the spices that are contained in the mix. Just combine together and you have pumpkin pie spice.
Maple syrup
This is an optional ingredient. I find the pumpkin spice coffee creamer to be just sweet enough, since it contains the ¼ cup of sweetened condensed milk. But if you prefer your coffee creamer to be a little sweeter, you can add maple syrup to taste.
How to Make Pumpkin Spice Coffee Creamer
