Maple Cinnamon Coffee (Hot and Iced!)

Looking for another easy coffee recipe to add to your morning rotation? It’s time for maple cinnamon coffee!

Since the flavors of maple and cinnamon are associated with fall, this is one I add to my morning rotation when the weather turns colder.

I’m also sharing an iced version for those early fall days that still feel like summer. (Though, I’ll admit I drink cold brew coffee all year round no matter the weather!)

Maple Cinnamon Coffee Ingredients

Espresso

For my coffee recipes, I like using whole bean coffee and grinding the beans myself with my Hario Skerton Grinder for the freshest beans possible.

I used Kicking Horse Smart Ass whole bean coffee. Kicking Horse is a Canadian coffee company. All their coffee is certified organic and fair trade, each with various cheeky names. Smart Ass is a medium roast that’s a bit sweet and chocolatey.

I made the coffee using a moka pot but you can use any method you prefer.

Ground cinnamon

Ground cinnamon doesn’t dissolve into coffee. So to get the cinnamon flavor in coffee, all you need to do is add a pinch or two of ground cinnamon to your coffee grounds before brewing.

I’ve done this in a Keurig, French press, moka pot and even for cold brew coffee and it’s an easy and delicious way to get that cinnamon flavor in.

Maple syrup

I just used whatever maple syrup I already had at home. You can find maple syrup on Amazon too

Milk

You can use whole milk, skim milk or any milk alternative you prefer.

Here, I used almond milk. I tend to use barista blends for my coffee recipes. If you’ve tried frothing milk alternatives like oat or almond milk, you know it just isn’t the same as using whole milk.

So these barista blended milk alternatives are formulated to froth like regular milk.

Whipped cream/topping

I topped my maple cinnamon coffee with whipped cream and sprinkled some more ground cinnamon on top.

If you have a milk frother and it’s already out from steaming the milk in it, you can put in a little extra milk and set your milk frother to a foamed milk setting to top off your cup.

How to Make Maple Cinnamon Coffee

I used a 10 ounce mug in these images so I used a little over half a cup of milk with 4 shots of espresso.

Step 1

Grind your coffee beans and add ground cinnamon to the ground coffee.

Brew as you usually would. I used a moka pot

Step 2

While your coffee brews, steam the milk. I did this in my milk frother

Step 3

Pour cinnamon coffee into a mug. Stir in maple syrup

Step 4

Pour steamed milk in.

Optional: Top with whipped cream or dense milk foam and a sprinkle of ground cinnamon.

For an iced version, use ice and don’t steam the milk. Place ice into your glass. Pour in cooled coffee and milk. Mix in maple syrup.

You can also use cinnamon cold brew coffee concentrate. To do this, make cold brew coffee as you usually would, but add in a ⅛ teaspoon of ground cinnamon.

If you haven’t made cold brew coffee before, check out my guide to making cold brew coffee. You don’t need any special equipment. If you have a French press or even an empty pasta jar, you can make cold brew coffee!
