We’ve previously shared a classic Irish Coffee recipe and even a fun Shamrock Latte if you want to practice your latte art skills. This time, I’m bringing you the Irish Cream Mocha. It’s non alcoholic, but if you want, you can add a little Irish whiskey to it.

I’ve made mine iced, but feel free to make this warm too if it’s still cold where you are around St. Patrick’s Day.

Here’s how to make it.

Irish Cream Mocha Ingredients

Tips for Making Irish Cream Mocha

Coffee

I used cold brew coffee concentrate in these images since I was making an iced version.

To make cold brew coffee, you’ll need to plan ahead as it takes about 12 to 15 hours for coffee grounds to steep in water. I make this in advance and keep a mason jar of it in the refrigerator to use throughout the week. Here’s my guide to making cold brew coffee if you choose to go this route too.

Alternatively, you can use espresso. I recommend using a moka pot, which is easy to use and less expensive than an espresso machine if you don’t have one of those at home.

The moka pot will brew a concentrated, espresso-like coffee so you can taste the coffee through the flavors we’re adding in this Irish Cream Mocha.

Milk

I used almond milk for a dairy free coffee drink.

You can also feel free to use whichever of your favorite milk or milk alternatives that you prefer.

Chocolate Sauce

I used Torani Dark Chocolate Sauce.

I use this for all of my mocha recipes as it mixes well in both hot or cold coffee. And it tastes good.

Irish Cream Syrup

I used Monin Irish Cream Syrup

If you haven’t tried it before and are curious to know, Irish Cream Syrup tastes a little nutty and chocolatey – kind of like Irish cream liqueur, but without the alcohol.

Ice

If you’re going the iced Irish Cream Mocha route, try using coffee ice cubes if you’ve never done it before.

This ensures once the ice cubes start to melt, that you don’t end up with watered down coffee. You’ll just end up with more coffee! Plus, you can flavor the coffee cubes by adding Irish Cream Syrup to each cube.

Toppings

I used whipped cream and green sprinkles.

This is optional, but the St. Patrick’s Day themed sprinkles adds to the festivities.

Make it Alcoholic

Want to make your Irish Cream Mocha alcoholic? When adding the chocolate sauce and Irish Cream syrup, add in a shot of your favorite Irish whiskey.

How to Make Irish Cream Mocha

  1. Brew coffee of choice. Use shots of espresso, or I used cold brew coffee for my iced Irish Cream Mocha.
  2. Mix chocolate sauce and Irish cream syrup with coffee. (And add whiskey if making an alcoholic version.)
  3. Pour milk.
  4. Top with whipped cream and green St. Patrick’s Day sprinkles (optional.)
