If you’ve seen Starbucks’ line of shaken espressos and wanted to try one, here’s your chance to try one by making it at home.
Shaken espressos are so easy to make. For this chocolate flavored one, all the ingredients you need are ice, espresso, chocolate sauce (or malt powder) and almond milk.
Shake the ingredients together in a cocktail sjhaker, add a little extra ice on top too and you have a chocolatey flavored espresso drink to start your day or to add some caffeine to your afternoon.

But for now, here’s how to make an Iced Chocolate Almondmilk Shaken Espresso in just four easy steps.
Iced Chocolate Almondmilk Shaken Espresso Ingredients

- ½ cup espresso
- 1 tbsp chocolate sauce (or chocolate malt powder like Ovaltine)
- ½ cup almond milk
Tips for Making Iced Chocolate Almondmilk Shaken Espresso
Espresso
I used a moka pot to brew espresso.
Espresso is a concentrated coffee that’s made when an espresso machine pressurizes hot water through tightly packed coffee beans. If you don’t have an espresso machine at home, not to worry.
You can use other brewing methods for a similar espresso-like coffee. This includes the moka pot, which I like to use for my recipes. Check out our guide to making espresso without an espresso machine to find out how you can make it at home too.
Feel free to also use the Starbucks Espresso Beans for a true copycat drink.
Chocolate Sauce
I used Torani Dark Chocolate Sauce.
Starbucks lists their ingredient for the chocolate component as Chocolate Malt Powder. So I just used chocolate sauce that I already had. But you can also use a chocolate malt powder.
You can find one like this Ovaltine Chocolate Malt on Amazon.
Ice
I used regular water based ice cubes. However, if you want to avoid watered down coffee when your ice cubes melt, the solution is to use coffee ice cubes.
This is simply freezing coffee in ice cube trays instead of water. So easy and makes a huge difference and is especially good to have on really warm days.
Almond Milk
I used Silk Almond Milk. I used a vanilla flavored almond milk. Feel free to use any type of almond milk you prefer.
