A coffee lover’s take on bubble tea.
You’ve probably already heard of bubble tea and might have even tried it. But have you tried iced bubble coffee?
In case you haven’t heard of bubble tea, it’s a tea-based drink from Taiwan that’s made with milk and contains little black balls called tapioca pearls. The drink is sometimes called boba tea too.
Tapioca pearls are a product extracted from cassava root and are chewy in texture. I’d describe the consistency of these little black pearls as a sort of cross between Jell-O and chewing gum. They remind me of gummy bears, my all-time favorite candy, although softer.
In the spirit of summer and warmer days, I am going to take your regular iced coffee to the next level by turning it into iced bubble coffee, served chilled over ice. This is a fun and easy beverage to make at home that you can enjoy throughout a hot summer day.
