Gluten-Free Dessert and Macchiato at R&R Coffee on Fulton Street NYC

At the corner of Gold and Fulton Street, close to the Financial District (FiDi) and South Street Seaport is a normal looking coffee shop called R&R Coffee. The super friendly barista was ready with a smile right when we entered through the glass door.

Décor and ambience
R&R Coffee was the location for one of the scenes in an upcoming indie web series called “Bleed.” Inside you can sit by the window and people watch or walk right inside to a quiet corner to read or write.

Despite the hurriedness outside, once you enter this simple coffee shop you can sense a friendly and welcoming space. Grab a cup and a sweet dessert, fire up your laptop and work for an hour or two if you need a change of environment. Free Wi-Fi is available and you don’t have to worry about outlets. Bear in mind that the shop is small.

Finding a bathroom may be a challenge in Lower Manhattan. R&R Coffee has a clean bathroom for customers.

Coffee: Type, price and taste
Macchiato comes in two sizes, 4 or 6 oz. at $3.25 and $3.50. R&R Coffee currently uses roasted beans from Toby’s Estate Roaster for their espressos. They have double shot espresso at $2.75, drip coffee, latte, cortado, mocha, iced coffee and iced tea.

Besides regular baked goods, R&R Coffee has delicious gluten free baked goods like this pistachio agave cookie for $2.18. The pistachio agave cookie was filled with pistachio nuts soaked in agave which makes it chewy and sweet. Agave nectar is known as honey water in Mexico and has low glycemic index compared to granulated sugar. It goes really well with the strong macchiato.

There aren’t many coffee shops in FiDi other than Starbucks.
