This eggnog milkshake with coffee recipe is really simple to make. I placed freshly brewed coffee, eggnog and ice cream into a blender and had an instant festive treat.
It is a bit sweet for my taste so I take it as something special to have once a year, especially enjoying it while doing other festive once a year activities, like making a gingerbread house or decorating the Christmas tree.
Plus, the added shot or two of coffee helps to keep the energy going.
Happy holidays!

- 1 cup ice cream

Tips for Making an Eggnog Milkshake
Coffee
I made coffee using a French press.
Feel free to use your favorite brewing method using your favorite coffee beans. If you prefer a stronger coffee taste in the milkshake, use espresso or a concentrated, espresso-like coffee.
This can be made using an espresso machine. But if you don’t have an espresso machine, read our guide to using a French press, Aeropress or moka pot to make the concentrated, espresso-like coffee.
Eggnog
I used Hood Golden Eggnog, which gives the milkshake a slight yellow hue.
Use storebought or make you own eggnog at home. For the Hood eggnog, I see this brand available at my local grocery store seasonally. This recipe has been a secret for over 50 years and is a blend of milk, sugar yolks and spices.
Ice Cream
I used storebought vanilla ice cream.
Alternatively, you can use coffee ice cream to get the coffee flavor in this eggnog milkshake with coffee recipe. Then omit the brewed coffee, or still add it for the caffeine.
While I used storebought ice cream in this instance, you can also make your own at home, as I have. I make no churn coffee ice cream in the summer and it’s made with just 4 ingredients and no ice cream maker required.
All you need to do is mix heavy whipping cream, sweetened condensed milk, vanilla extract and instant coffee with an electric mixer. Pour this mixture into a loaf pan and leave it in the fridge for at least 4 hours or until the mixture freezes. The result is a creamy coffee flavored ice cream. Check out the full recipe here.
Toppings
I used storebought whipped cream and festive Christmas sprinkles.
Use storebought whipped cream, or like the ice cream, you can also make it at home. Using heavy cream, mix it with an electric mixer until stiff peaks form and you’ve got homemade whipped cream.
