For Easter, I was trying to figure out how to make my morning cup Easter themed. That’s when I thought to use Peeps with coffee.
I found out there is a Peeps coffee creamer out there. But I thought instead, why not make a toasted marshmallow syrup that tastes somewhat likes Peeps?
I chose to use regular marshmallows instead of actually using Peeps, but I did decorate the drink with fun sprinkle covered Peeps and also Cadbury Mini Eggs on the rim. Just for fun.
And that’s what we’ll do here to make this Easter themed coffee.
Happy Easter!
Easter Peeps Coffee Ingredients
- ½ cup cold brew concentrate (or 1 cup coffee)
- 1 tbsp toasted marshmallow syrup
- 1 cup granulated sugar
- 1 cup water
- 12 large marshmallows
- Peeps for decorating
- Optional: ¼ cup milk, Cadbury Mini Eggs for the rim
Tips for Making Easter Peeps Coffee
Coffee
I used cold brew concentrate that I make in advance.
If you’d like to use cold brew too, check out our guide for making cold brew coffee (including 3 easy methods!)
Otherwise, you can also opt to use whichever brewing method you prefer. Drip coffee from your coffee maker will work just as well and can be warm or add ice to make it cold.
Toasted Marshmallow Syrup
You can purchase Torani Toasted Marshmallow Syrup.
Or you can do what I did and make one at home. Here’s how:
- Turn your oven’s broil setting on and place marshmallows in the oven for about 2 minutes, or until the marshmallows brown.
- Place sugar and water in a saucepan over medium heat. Stir until sugar dissolves. Turn off the heat.
- Stir marshmallows into the syrup.
- The marshmallows will dissolve. If you have some of the toasted parts of the marshmallows still floating in the syrup, strain it.
- Store in a mason jar in the refrigerator.
Milk
I put a touch of oat milk into my cold brew coffee, just the way I prefer it. Feel free to do the same with yours.
I put ¼ cup in the recipe instructions as a guide. If you prefer not to have milk in your coffee, you can omit this.
Decorations
It’s Easter so I tried to incorporate a few favorite Easter candy. I crushed a handful of Cadbury Mini Eggs and stuck it onto the rim of the glass using Nutella.
In another cup of this Easter coffee, I placed decorated Peeps into the cup. These Peeps were placed on sticks, dipped into mint candy melts and dipped into sprinkles for a fun variation to these Easter classics.
