Want to live longer and look younger? Maybe coffee can help.
While researching the connections between coffee and living longer, we came across several interesting news reports entitled “how drinking coffee will help you live longer” and “drinking coffee tied to lower risk of death.”
Here are what these studies and reports have to say about drinking coffee and living longer:
- People who drink coffee are less likely to die of heart disease and diabetes than those who don’t drink coffee. (Source: FoxNews)
- Antioxidants in coffee may help reduce inflammation and insulin resistance. (Source: Runner’s World)
- Moderate coffee consumption is linked to a reduced risk of coronary diseases and strokes. Take a look at a tweet by the American Heart Association:

- CBC News Calgary reported that Harvard researchers found that increased java consumption lowers risk of premature death.
- The Telegraph reported that a study in The Journal of Alzheimer’s found that middle-aged regular coffee drinkers were less likely to suffer from dementia later in life than those who didn’t drink coffee.
These reports show that drinking coffee in moderation may be beneficial for our overall health. The drink we crave for every morning or afternoon is worth every bit of our investment. These benefits do not apply to children or pregnant women.
But there is one critical thing to remember when drinking coffee as reported by CBS News:
Finally, experts caution that while coffee itself seems to have health benefits, added ingredients — like sugar, cream and syrupy sweeteners — do not.

How do you drink your coffee?
Sugar and cream or just black or with a touch of milk?
We used to drink coffee with lots of sugar and cream. But not anymore since we started the habit of:
- Purchasing coffee beans from growers and good roasters
- Grinding the coffee beans with our burr grinder right before brewing our coffee
- Experimenting with different methods of brewing coffee
Maybe it’s time to start these habits and cut down on sugar and cream. To start out, we suggest buying coffee from your local roaster or get coffee delivered monthly to your doorstep and investing in a burr coffee grinder.
