What is a martini?

The martini is a classy, signature cocktail that has become a timeless favorite around the world since its creation sometime in the late 19th to early 20th century (depending on who you ask.)

A classic martini is made with gin and vermouth and is garnished with green olives or a lemon twist. It is elegant and has been a bar staple for many years. Over time, other variations of the drink have appeared, including replacing gin with vodka to create the vodka martini, which tastes great when coffee is added to the mix.

Have your cocktail shaker and martini glasses ready. Here are 3 easy vodka and coffee martini recipes you can make now:

Classic Espresso Martini

First we have a Classic Espresso Martini, a simple yet delicate beverage.

It requires either freshly brewed espresso, strong brewed coffee, or instant coffee. Any coffee will work but we find espresso works the best. Choose darker roast coffee beans as you need a bolder flavor profile to cut through the liquor.

Dalgona Coffee Martini

Obsessed with the Dalgona coffee trend?

If you’re not familiar with Dalgona coffee, it’s a cold milk based drink topped with a thick layer of sweet and smooth frothy foam. The foam mixture is made with just three ingredients – instant coffee, sugar and water. No mixer is required. It’s super simple to prepare as long as you have the ratio and ingredients right.

Cold Brew Coffee Martini

Cold brew coffee is brewed by steeping freshly ground coffee in water for at least 12 hours. We’ve been making ours with Coffee Bros Cold Brew Coffee Beans this summer, but any bean will work as long as you coarsely grind the coffee to steep.

Making this Cold Brew Martini is a very simple and forgiving method, you just need to plan and prepare for it ahead of time.

How to Make Cold Brew Coffee Martini

Step 1

To make cold brew coffee, use a 1:4 coffee to water ratio.

We like the convenience of using a Hario or Primula cold brew coffee maker which comes with a reusable filter basket. Simply fill the carafe with cool water, put coarsely ground coffee in the filter basket, stir ground coffee well and leave it in a refrigerator for 12 hours.

Step 2

When the cold brew coffee is ready, pour all the ingredients into a cocktail shaker and shake vigorously for 20-30 seconds or until chilled.

Step 3

Put a coffee bean inside the martini glass. Strain into the martini glass. Enjoy!

These simple recipes are a great starting point for anyone who wants something different than a normal glass of coffee. They are easy to make, delicious, and don’t require a ton of ingredients. Try them out and let us know your thoughts.
