Upgrade Your Iced Coffee: How to Make Coffee Ice Cubes

Coffee ice cubes. We realize this isn’t a recipe as much as an idea.

If you aren’t making coffee ice cubes for your cups of homemade cold brew or iced coffee, you should consider it. It’s a game changer. No more diluted coffee because of water based ice cubes. With coffee ice cubes, you just get more coffee when it melts.

You can make coffee ice cubes with any coffee. During the summer we always have a batch of cold brew coffee on hand in the fridge. So we used a cup of it for these ice cubes.

We’re also sharing a sweet version – a Vietnamese style coffee ice cube. Vietnamese iced coffee consists of a dark roast coffee (we like making our Vietnamese coffee with Cafe du Monde coffee) with sweetened condensed milk. These ice cubes are equally easy to make as the regular coffee ice cubes but just with an additional ingredient.

How to Make Coffee Ice Cubes

Step 1

Make cold brew coffee in advance. We used our favorite Primula cold brew coffee maker to make a batch of cold brew coffee ahead of time.

Step 2

Pour cold brew coffee into ice cube trays. Place in freezer for at least 3 hours or until frozen.

Vietnamese Coffee Ice Cubes Recipe

Step 1

Mix cold brew coffee and sweetened condensed milk.

Step 2

Pour mixture into ice cube tray. Place in freezer for at least 3 hours or until frozen.

How to Drink It

You can add coffee ice cubes to your favorite iced coffee drink. And you can also simply put a few cubes into your favorite milk, like the Califa Farms Barista Almond Milk to give the milk just a hint of coffee flavoring.

  • 1/2 cup cold brew coffee
  • 1/2 cup sweetened condensed milk
  • ice cube tray

Instructions
