We need more coffee emojis.
We’ve written about our love of staying connected with friends and family through traditional snail mail. Taking the time to handwrite a greeting card is always so thoughtful. But, we know there are times when texting is just more practical. We totally get that it’s frequently necessary to get a message across immediately or it’s just quicker to send an I’m thinking of you text.
For the coffee lovers out there, us included, we’ve found ways to make our texting threads and social media posts a little more fun. So we put together this list of emojis and coffee sticker packs. We’ll discuss the one coffee resembling emoji, then show you how to download your own coffee sticker pack, especially exciting for the Starbucks fans.
The Coffee Emoji
This is the coffee emoji on the iPhone.
You’ve seen it before. But did you know it’s actually officially called the Hot Beverage, not coffee? So if you’re looking to style up your texts with coffee emojis, at the moment, it’s really just this one hot beverage emoji.
We’ve heard there’s a bubble tea emoji coming soon (have you made our iced bubble coffee yet?) So we’re still holding out hope that other coffee related emojis will be added soon, like a coffee bean or an iced coffee emoji anyone?
Did you also know that the emoji looks different depending on the device or platform you’re using? Let’s take a look at a few.
Apple – a white cup and saucer filled with coffee and a little puff of steam seen on all Apple devices like the iPhone, iPad, Mac.
Google – a white cup and saucer filled with coffee and two lines of steam seen on Android devices and Gmail too.
Microsoft – a white cup and saucer with a thick black outline and three lines of steam seen on devices using Windows 10.
Samsung – the slightly tilted forward coffee emoji without steam you’ll see on Samsung devices.
WhatsApp – the coffee emoji looks very similar to the Apple one with a slightly taller mug.
Twitter – a white mug with grey saucer and rim filled with a lighter brown coffee than all the other coffee emojis and two lines of steam (appears like this on desktop.)

Facebook – one of the more simple looking coffee emojis with just a white mug filled with coffee (appears like this on desktop.)

So there it is in all its forms, the Hot Beverage Emoji or what we call the Coffee Emoji. (Should we send a proposal for a coffee bean or iced coffee emoji? Let us know in the comments…)
Since we coffee lovers are pretty much just limited to the ‘not even officially a coffee emoji’ emoji, you can also send stickers through texting to embellish your texts. Let’s walk through the steps to download a sticker pack on an iPhone (some of these sticker packs are also available for Android devices.)
How to Get Coffee Stickers for Texting
Since there isn’t a coffee bean or iced coffee emoji (yet), we’re using these stickers in the meantime. We’ll walk through how to download the official Starbucks Stickers pack. The pack includes simple coffee phrases, happy birthday frappes and several signature Starbucks drinks with their logo on it, Starbucks cafe scenes and random cute animals drinking Frappuccinos.
Step 1
Go to your Message app. Click on a thread that you want to use a sticker in, or start a new conversation.
Step 2
Tap on the App Store icon.
Step 3
Search on the App Store for Starbucks Stickers and tap Get to download the sticker pack. Enter your Apple ID account info to download. It should be free.
Step 4
Go back to the texting thread or new conversation. Scroll through the apps and the Starbucks Stickers icon should be there now. Tap on the icon for the stickers selection to appear.
Step 5
You can send one individually, or tap and hold on to the sticker you want to use and drag it onto an already sent text.
Step 6
You can ‘pile on’ several stickers too. Or mix and match different packs. Like this to go coffee cup holding a to go Starbucks mug with its friend, a Starbucks drinking shark. Have fun with it!
Search for these free sticker packs also while you’re at it:
- Coffee Snob Stickers (includes every coffee brewing method – an espresso machine, French press, Aeropress, moka pot and more in a mainly blue and white muted color scheme)
- Tradition Coffee Stickers (includes coffee beans, cups and cafe scenes in a darker color scheme)
- Hi Coffee! (a small selection, but cute set of a smiley faced to go coffee cup doing different things)
