Cheers everyone!
When it is cold outside, it doesn’t mean we have to cower indoors and drink hot beverages all day, staring blankly at the fireplace. No matter where you live – in a log cabin in Tennessee, an apartment in New York City or a Tudor home in New England, here are five coffee cocktails that will surely warm you up and help you look at the brighter side of things.
1. The SaPresso Cocktail
You will need the following ingredients:
- 2 oz. espresso
- 1.5 oz. Nigori sake (any type, we chose Ozeki)
- 1 tablespoon maple syrup
- 3 dashes Angostura bitters
- 3 ice cubes
Pour everything into a cocktail shaker and shake well for 20 seconds.
Note: It’s unnecessary to let the espresso shot cool down to room temperature. The ice cubes will offset the hotness while mixing.
For details: Read The SaPresso Coffee and Sake Cocktail article.
2. The Midnight Roast
You will need the following ingredients:
- 2 oz of espresso or strong brewed coffee
- 1 oz of Calpico concentrate
- 1 oz Kahlúa (Coffee-flavored sugar-based liqueur)
- 1 oz Spiced Rum
Instructions
Mix Calpico concentrate, Kahlúa, and Spiced Rum well in a glass and let it sit for several minutes.
Extract espresso from an espresso machine and let it drip directly into the same glass.
Stir it well and garnish with crushed coffee beans on top.
Utensils
I measured all the ingredients with a jigger and a shot glass.
I used an espresso machine to pull my shot. If you don’t have one, you can make it with a regular coffee maker by grinding the coffee beans finer, or by increasing the coffee-to-water ratio. Or use a Moka pot to brew a strong cup of coffee.

Instructions
