It’s really easy to put together a coconut flavored cold brew coffee. I make cold brew coffee in advance and have it ready in the fridge to go when I want to make a recipe like this one.
We’ll froth coconut cream (or coconut milk) for a creamy coconut flavor that complements cold brew coffee. Choose your favorite cold brew coffee bean or just your favorite coffee beans (we’ll explain how to make cold brew coffee if you haven’t made it before.)
What is Cold Brew Coffee?
While most brewing methods require hot water to brew coffee, cold brew coffee doesn’t use hot water at all.
Instead, to make cold brew coffee, coarsely ground coffee is steeped in room temperature water for at least 12 hours. It’s ready to drink, or add ice and other flavors like we’ll do in this Coconut Cream Cold Brew recipe.
Coconut Cream Cold Brew Ingredients
- ½ cup cold brew coffee
- Sweetener of choice (honey, vanilla syrup)
- 2 tbsp coconut cream (2 tbsp water) or 1/4 cup coconut milk
- Ice
- Optional: Shredded coconut, Nutella
Tips for Making Coconut Cream Cold Brew
Cold Brew Coffee
Cold brew coffee is made by steeping coarsely ground coffee beans in room temperature water for 12 to 15 hours. So this will take some time to make. (But if you really want to make this right now, you can use regular drip coffee and set it aside to cool before using.)
I make a batch in advance and leave it in the fridge to use for my cold brew recipes throughout the week. Here’s how you can make it easily at home, without any fancy equipment.

Here’s how I used a mason jar to make the cold brew coffee:
- Grind coffee beans coarsely. These can your favorite beans, it doesn’t necessarily have to be beans labeled as cold brew. I used Stumptown Coffee French Roast.
- Add coffee beans to an empty jar. Pour water. I use a 3 to 1 ratio. 3 cups of water to 1 cup of coffee beans.
- Put a lid on and set aside for 12 to 15 hours.
- Strain and store in a jar in the refrigerator.
Sweetener
I chose honey and mixed it into the cold brew coffee.
This is optional. Choose to sweeten your cold brew coffee using various options like honey or simple syrups like vanilla. Or maybe not.
Coconut Cream
I used canned Coconut Milk, which you can find in a grocery store or also on Amazon.
Sometimes the coconut milk will harden slightly if stored in the refrigerator and be almost a similar consistency to coconut cream. So if this happens, or you’re using coconut cream, use ¼ cup of water to make it slightly less thick.
Ice
I used regular water based ice cubes, however if it’s a really hot day when ice tends to melt quickly, try coffee ice cubes.
This is taking either leftover coffee from a pot you made in the morning, or extra cold brew coffee and putting it in ice cube trays. Freeze these and you have coffee ice cubes. When it melts, you just get more coffee instead of watered down coffee.
Shredded Coconut
This is an optional step. Try spreading Nutella on the rim of your glass and sticking shredded coconut or coconut chips on the Nutella.
Add shredded coconut on top of the drink too.
