We’re adding another super simple coffee recipe to your morning (or afternoon pick me up) rotation.
This time we’re making a caramel flavored iced coffee. It’s equally as easy as our super simple vanilla latte and super simple iced mocha.
Did we mention, it’s super simple?!
Just choose your coffee brewing method, brew the coffee and add ice, milk and a caramel flavored sauce to make this coffee drink. And for an extra treat, top it with whipped cream and more caramel sauce!
Enjoy!
Iced coffee vs iced latte vs cold brew coffee
This recipe is an iced coffee recipe.
What’s the difference between all these cold coffee drinks?
- Iced coffee is coffee that’s brewed in using any coffee brewing method and served with ice. Whether you brew your coffee with a French press, AeroPress, drip coffee maker, Keurig, if you add ice to the coffee, you have iced coffee.
- Iced latte is made with espresso. To be called a latte, the coffee drink must contain espresso. Espresso is made using an espresso machine. But you can also make a similar concentrated coffee using a stove top moka pot. So an iced latte is just a cold version of the espresso based coffee drink.
- Cold brew coffee takes the longest to brew out of the three. Unlike the others, the coffee is never hot. Coffee grounds are steeped in room temperature water for at least 12 hours to make cold brew coffee.
Now that we got this cleared and out of the way, here’s how to make the super simple Caramel Iced Coffee.
Caramel Iced Coffee Ingredients
- ½ cup coffee
- 2 tablespoons caramel sauce
- ¾ cup milk or milk alternative
- 8 ice cubes
- Optional: Whipped cream
Tips for Making Caramel Iced Coffee
The Coffee
I previously made a batch of cold brew coffee and had extra sitting in my refrigerator, so I used the concentrate for this recipe.
Since this is iced coffee, as mentioned above, you can use any coffee you make, in whichever brewing method you decide.
For the fastest way, you can brew a Keurig K cup or your drip coffee maker and leave the coffee aside to cool. If you have a French press, you can also use your favorite coffee beans, brew it and leave it to cool before putting the caramel iced coffee together.
And if you want to make cold brew coffee like I did, you’ll just need to plan in advance. Cold brew coffee requires at least 12 hours to steep.
Here’s a quick rundown on how to make cold brew coffee (you can read our full guide here.)
- Use a coffee grinder to grind your coffee beans coarsely or purchase coarse ground coffee.
- Place coffee grounds in an empty pasta jar. You can also use a French press.
- Add room temperature water to the coffee grounds. The ratio I like to use is 1 part coffee grounds to 3 parts water.
- Stir and let the coffee grounds steep for 12-14 hours.
- Strain the cold brew coffee concentrate and store in a mason jar in the refrigerator.
- Add water or milk to the concentrate before drinking. (The amount of liquid may vary depending on how strong you prefer your cold brew coffee.)
Caramel Sauce
I used Torani Caramel Sauce.
I like Torani’s line of sauces. They work great for coffee drinks and also for drizzling on top of desserts.
Milk
I used NotMilk, a plant based milk alternative. You can use any type of milk.
How to Make Caramel Iced Coffee
- Brew coffee. I used cold brew coffee but you can use any method you prefer. If brewing hot, make sure to leave it to cool before pouring.

- Optional: top with whipped cream and drizzle with more caramel sauce.

Step 1
Choose your brewing method. In this photo I’m using cold brew coffee concentrate that I made in advance. I put in a little water too to dilute it since it’s very concentrated.
Feel free to use any coffee brewing method you prefer, just make sure to set it aside to cool before adding ice.
Step 2
Add caramel sauce, ice and milk.
Step 3
Optional: Top with whipped cream and drizzle with more caramel sauce.
