The holidays may be over, but you probably have candy or other holiday treats laying around the house. The cookies and other baked goods are probably gone or have gone bad by now, but candy canes seem to last forever.
So if you have extra candy canes, what do you do with it?
Here’s an idea: Candy Cane Lattes!
If you like the Starbucks peppermint mocha, you’ll love this latte. We’ll dissolve a candy cane into milk and mix it with espresso for a delicious, minty coffee treat. (And a way to use up all those candy canes.)
And if you’re reading this to make during the holidays, Happy Holidays!
Candy Cane Latte Ingredients
- ¼ cup espresso (I used illy Intenso whole beans)
- 1 cup milk
- 1 candy cane
- Whipped cream
Tips for Making Candy Cane Latte
Espresso
I used a moka pot to brew espresso.
To make espresso, you will need an espresso machine. However, as you’ll find in most of my recipes, I like and recommend using a moka pot when making lattes at home.
This is if you don’t have an espresso machine at home or prefer using a more inexpensive coffee brewing method. The moka pot can brew a concentrated coffee that resembles espresso.
Milk
I used almond milk. Feel free to use skim milk, whole milk or a milk alternative. The candy cane will dissolve in the milk, making it a candy cane flavored milk, no matter which one you choose.
Candy Cane
I used about half of a full size candy cane to dissolve in the milk and used the other half for decor.
If you prefer a mintier flavor, you can also add mint syrup to enhance the mint.
Toppings
I topped the candy cane latte with whipped cream and crushed candy cane.
If you’re making this around the holidays and want to add something festive, top it with festive sprinkles.
