I couldn’t make it to Japan to try a Starbucks holiday drink exclusive to Japan, the Berry x Berry White Mocha… so I made a version of it at home. Here’s how you can too.

I always love trying new things while overseas, but I have to say, sometimes seeing a familiar thing is nice too. Like Starbucks.
Starbucks started in Seattle so if you’re US based and especially in a large city, you know there seems to be one of their cafes in almost every corner.
Though you’ll find the familiar green and white logo and maybe get your usual order at an international location, did you know oftentimes there are drinks that you can only get exclusively at an international Starbucks?
This varies depending on the country. It could be a drink made with ingredients that are native to the country or the drink is on the menu specifically because it caters to the local population.
Those unique to the Starbucks overseas drinks also extends to holiday drinks.
In the US, we have Eggnog Lattes and Toasted White Chocolate Mochas, but what we don’t have are drinks like the Cranberry Mocha Blanco (Latin America), Lava Choco Dark Mocha (China), and what we’re making here, the Berry x Berry White Mocha (Japan).
What is a Berry x Berry White Mocha?
The Berry x Berry White Mocha is a Starbucks holiday drink only available in Japan.
It’s described as a ‘sweet-tart beverage’ inspired by Starbucks Cranberry Bliss Bar. Ingredients include white chocolate sauce, mixed berry sauce, steamed milk and espresso. (You can see a list of holiday drinks around the world here, which includes this drink.)
If you’re craving a frappuccino version of the drink, Starbucks Japan has a Berry x Berry No-Bake Cheesecake Frappuccino, which also uses the white chocolate and mixed berry sauces.
The Berry x Berry White Mocha caught my attention because I don’t think about mixing berries with my coffee drink recipes. I wanted to try this for a change.
So, using the one sentence I had from Starbucks’ website about the Berry x Berry below, I created this Berry x Berry White Mocha Starbucks copycat recipe. Enjoy!
The sweet-tart beverage is made with white chocolate-flavored sauce, mixed berry sauce, steamed milk and espresso.

Tips for Making a Berry x Berry White Mocha
Espresso
I used a moka pot.
If you don’t have an espresso machine at home, check out this guide to making espresso without an espresso machine.
My favorite method is to use a moka pot as it brews an espresso-like, concentrated coffee.
Berry Sauce
I made my own berry sauce using fresh strawberries.
The Starbucks description does not specify what type of berries, so I just went with strawberries. But I can imagine using raspberries would taste really good too.
Making your own berry sauce is so easy. You can use it for topping desserts and pancakes too. Just place the fruit into a pot, add sugar and a little water (or lemon juice) and stir until the berries soften. Use a masher to mash the berries.
White Chocolate Sauce
I used Torani White Chocolate Sauce.
Torani sauces work great for mixing into hot or cold coffees.
Milk
I used oat milk. Feel free to use your preferred milk of choice.
Starbucks does mention that they steam the milk so to keep your mocha warm, steam the milk. You can just place it in the microwave for a few seconds or use a convenient milk frother that has a steam milk setting.
Toppings
From one photo on the Starbucks website of the Berry x Berry White Mocha, I could tell the drink is topped with whipped cream and what looks like small pieces of a berry.
So I also used storebought whipped cream and freshly cut strawberry pieces to top my version of the drink.
