Lavender lattes are one of the beverages that I have been aiming to create for a long time. Reason being a latte is comforting by itself, but if you make it with lavender, you’ll have the added soothing and calming benefits all in one.
Plus lavender also locks in the coffee flavor without overpowering it.
What are some more benefits of lavender?

Instead of using lavender syrup, this lavender latte uses a 100% pure, therapeutic grade lavender essential oil to set off a traditional latte. Here’s how to make it.
(You can skip below to a printable recipe or follow our step by step instructions.)
What You’ll Need to Make a Lavender Latte
Ingredients
- 2 ounces espresso
- 4 ounces milk
- Lavender essential oil (Note: use only 100% pure therapeutic-grade essential oil, not adulterated oil. We used lavender essential oil from Young Living’s Vitality dietary essential oils line made for dietary and culinary use.)
- Lavender flowers (optional)
Tools
- Espresso machine (or a Moka pot)
- Milk frother
- Frothing pitcher
- 7 ounce or larger coffee cup
Step by Step Instructions
Step 1
Brew 2 ounces of espresso.
If you don’t have an espresso machine at home, you can make a strong coffee using other brewing methods, like with a Moka pot, French press or Aeropress. You’ll get equally delicious espresso using these methods.
Additional information on how to use a Moka pot, French press and Aeropress are available here:

Step 2
Add 1-2 drops of lavender essential oil into cold milk.
Step 3
Purge the steam wand. Purging ensures all excess water is released from the steam wand.
Step 4
Start steaming the milk and let it roll.
If you don’t have a steam wand, use a handheld milk frother or even a mason jar. Read how to make latte art without expensive coffee gear. In the article, I demonstrate how to use a mason jar (or an empty pasta sauce jar), French press or a handheld milk frother to froth warm milk.
Pro tip: Always use whole milk and heat it up to approximately 150°F. It is great to have a food thermometer handy to monitor the desired temperature.
Step 5
Pour the steamed milk into the espresso.
Step 6
Top with a sprinkle of lavender flowers for decor.
Your lavender latte is ready! Enjoy.

This is a great article, thanks. It inspired me to try lavender coffee for sure.
However, I do have some tiny concerns with it.
Lavender is known for helping with relaxation and for inducing sleepiness and drowsiness.
This is great for those who need help getting to dreamland.
And I feel that mixing lavender essential oil with coffee will not help those people because coffee and lavender will fight each other for dominion over body and this will only leave the coffee drinker exhausted.
As for myself, I feel it is wiser to mix foods that can synchronize “their inner workings” to provide the biggest and one-sided (staying awake) benefit to my body.
So, I never mixed essential oil with coffee but if I were to do it (and wanted to stay alert for a long time) I would add peppermint or wild oregano oil (though I can’t vouch for the taste) 🙂
Anyway, thank you for sharing. It inspired me to try something new.
P.S.

I think my words are little bit jumbled and you have to glean the intended meaning from them.
Yeah, sorry about that.
It takes 20m for caffeine to start working and I am just taking my first sips (it’s hot so I am going slow).
And I have no peppermint oil at hand… 🙂
