Snickers bars are one of the world’s best selling candy bars.
It was first introduced to the world in 1930 and has been a favorite candy bar ever since.
What’s not to love about chocolate, caramel and peanuts?! (There are now hazelnut and almond versions too if you can’t have peanuts.)
Did you know, apparently Snickers was named after the horse of the candy bar’s creator, Frank Mars? And it was the official snack of the 1984 Summer Olympics in Los Angeles?
I took inspiration from this fan favorite candy bar and put it into a coffee drink.
We’ll be brewing coffee, then mixing the flavors of a Snickers bar in the form of caramel sauce, chocolate sauce and peanut butter with milk. And to make it extra special, we’ll add a layer of whipped cream and pieces of a Snickers bar on top. An optional step, but totally recommended!
Enjoy!
What does Snickers taste like?
If you haven’t had a Snickers bar before (!!), it has a layer of caramel and peanuts on top of nougat and all wrapped in a layer of milk chocolate.
So each bite tastes like peanuts, caramel and chocolate.
This is the original Snickers, but today you can also find Snickers with other nuts like hazelnut and almonds. There are also crunchy versions with crisp rice in the nougat and one with crunchy peanut butter. And various sizes like minis, fun size, 100 calorie, to go bars. There’s something for everyone.
But in this Snickers coffee recipe, we’re taking the flavors of the original Snickers candy bar and turning it into a coffee drink.
Snickers Coffee Ingredients
- ½ cup coffee (I used illy Intenso)
- 1 cup milk or milk alternative
- 1 ½ tbsp peanut butter
- 1 tbsp caramel sauce
- 1 tbsp chocolate sauce
- Whipped cream
- Snickers bar
Tips for Making Snickers Coffee
Which kind of coffee should you use?
This is a coffee recipe (not a latte like a lot of the recipes you’ll find here, which require espresso) so feel free to use any coffee using your favorite brewing method.
I used a stove top moka pot.
For the fastest method, I would use my Keurig Single Serve Coffee Maker. You could also use a drip coffee maker, French press, cold brew coffee – whichever method you prefer. I chose a moka pot since it creates a concentrated coffee, so you can still taste the coffee among the peanut, caramel and chocolate flavors.
For the coffee beans, I used illy Intenso whole bean coffee and grinded it with my Hario Skerton Grinder. This is one of my favorite beans to use for my coffee recipes. It’s a great option for those who prefer a bold and intense dark roast with notes of cocoa.
Again, feel free to use whichever coffee you prefer.
Milk
I used Califia Farms Barista Blend Almond Milk.
You can use any milk of choice or milk alternative too. I always have a barista blend at home to make coffee recipes. These are specially formulated to froth and foam like regular milk. You can find barista blends of almond milk and oat milk too.
Peanut Butter
I used Jif Natural Creamy Peanut Butter.
This recipe will work with any peanut butter of your choice, whether it’s labeled natural, organic or neither. Just make sure to use creamy peanut butter and not the crunchy kind with pieces of peanut in it.
If crunchy peanut butter is all you have, that’s fine too. But you’ll just have to make sure your blender can blend those crunchy pieces.
Caramel and Chocolate Sauce
I used Torani Caramel Sauce and Torani Chocolate Sauce.
You can get these on Amazon in a pack or separately. These are my favorite sauces to use for coffee recipes because they will mix well in the drink and also work to drizzle extra sauce on top of the drink.
You can use caramel syrup instead of caramel sauce as an alternative.
Snickers Bar
We won’t actually be using Snickers bars in this Snickers coffee recipe, but it doesn’t hurt to have some on hand on the side. Or to top the coffee with for fun like I did. I used mini Snickers bars and cut them into smaller pieces.
How to Make Snickers Coffee
